My name is Joshua Martin and I teach Guitar, Bass and Ukulele out of Santa Maria CA, and online through Zoom. I am currently accepting new students.

I founded Martin Music Academy in 2022 with the goal of providing personalized guitar instruction for all ages and all musical styles. I serve students with experience levels from absolute beginner to intermediate. My approach is based on the belief that everyone can learn to play guitar, regardless of age or ability.

My students range in age from seven to seventy. I can help the absolute beginner take their first steps in learning to play, beginning with learning how to tune the instrument. I can also help the intermediate player break through their plateau and learn to play up the neck and take that guitar solo.

I understand that being a good teacher means being flexible rather than following a rigid curriculum. I know that one size doesn’t fit all. Students have different learning styles and I believe it is important for me as a teacher to adapt to the learning style of my students.

Playing music has been an important hobby for me since  I first picked up bass guitar as a teen. I was a teacher in my previous career and recently I have pivoted to teaching music. I've always loved teaching. With music, I love figuring out how to tailor lessons to the individual student. 

Playing music is a skill you can learn and continue to develop and enjoy through life. Most players find their progress is uneven and plateaus can be hard to work through. I can help you travel the most direct path to meet your musical goals and have fun along the way. It's not too early or too late for you to begin. Enjoy the journey!
